The most recent crochet project I have completed is a blanket/throw comprised of sunburst granny squares joined by the ‘continuous join as you go’ method.
I used one of my favourite yarns – Stylecraft Special DK https://www.stylecraft-yarns.co.uk/Special+DK purchased from Wool Warehouse https://www.woolwarehouse.co.uk/. The colours used for the squares are Pale Rose, Plum, Grape, Stone, Mocha, Walnut and Parchment, the latter being the joining colour. The colours are from The Patchwork Heart’s Black Forest colour recipe https://www.thepatchworkheart.co.uk/2018/01/the-black-forest-starburst-flower.html?m=1

I used the Bella Coco tutorial to make the sunburst squares https://bellacococrochet.com/sunburst-granny-square/

Like my bee themed crochet hook?… It’s from Pedro’s Plaques https://www.etsy.com/uk/shop/PedrosPlaques 🐝 My scissor fob and crochet hook in the previous photo are also from Pedro’s Plaques. The tray was a present from a friend and is by Ulster Weavers.

I crocheted 84 squares and joined them together using the continuous join as you go method – Hooked by Robin has a great tutorial https://youtu.be/cxcJW0hgp3g

When all the squares were joined, I added three rows of granny clusters all around the blanket. For the border I crocheted one row of double crochet (dc) (uk terms) and finished off with final row – Chain 3, dc in the same stitch. Miss a stitch. Slip stitch in next stitch, repeat.
I always wash my completed blankets at 30 degrees to settle the stitches. A blow on the line makes them smell super fresh too!

I like to give my crochet that personal touch by adding a wooden or faux leather brand tag. The guys at J S Lasercraft make mine https://jslasercraft.co.uk/

This blanket was commissioned by a very special customer via my FaceBook page https://m.facebook.com/nickybeecrochet/ As I had some yarn left over I decided to crochet a hot water bottle cover as a ‘thank you’ . I’ll write about crocheted hot water bottle covers in a separate post, they are very popular.

All that is needed now is packing up nicely and posting to my customer… I hope she likes it ….

I have seen this blanket being made and the hard work that has gone into it so it is great that the person receiving it is so pleased.
